Welcome to the City of Conrad, the Heart of the Golden Triangle.
Named for cattleman W.G. Conrad (Borgen, G. (2018). A town is born: (Conrad, Montana) 1903-1930 (J. Farkell, Ed.). Pondera History Association), the City of Conrad was incorporated in 1909 following major railway construction through Montana in the late 1800s. Located on the rolling prairies of the Rocky Mountain Front, Conrad serves as the county seat for Pondera County.
According to the 2020 United States census, the population of Conrad includes 2,318 residents. Operating under a Charter form of government, the City of Conrad is overseen by the Mayor, four elected City council Members, and all of the hard-working City employees. Community members are welcome and encouraged to attend the City Council meetings on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of each month held at City Hall at 6:00 p.m.
The core of Conrad’s economy is agriculture notably referenced by the exemplary Cowboys and Cowgirls of the local schools. The town prides itself on education, the beauty of the community, and the continuous improvements of infrastructure. The people and City of Conrad deeply value community involvement.
